About me
Perez has taught in higher education settings for 30 years at both two and four-year institutions in several states. Within the Alamo Colleges District, she has worked at St. Philip's College and San Antonio College, where she worked full-time and served in various roles: Department Chair and supervisor of the International Student Services office, Faculty Senate Secretary and Vice President, Coordinator of International Studies, Coordinator of the Faculty-Student Mentoring Program, and accreditation liaison for SAC at NLC courses. In 2017, she was hired at Northeast Lakeview College where she currently serves as Dean for Academic Success.
Her many years of experience include working with curriculum, international issues, dual credit and CCRSM, strategic planning, enrollment management, conference planning, and faculty-student mentoring. Her relevant training and current certifications include the Quality Matters APPQMR Certification, Quality Texas Examiner's Training, Project Management Professional Training, and a Change Management Certification. In 2011, she participated in the Alamo Colleges Leadership Academy for Success (ALAS) where she was honored with an ALAS faculty award and peer award. She received the UT Austin NISOD Excellence award both from San Antonio College and from Northeast Lakeview College. The NLC Emerging Leaders awarded her with the Trusted Leader Award in 2019. She additionally received the Corazon Award from the District Faculty Development Team for her participation in faculty development presentations throughout the years. Perez holds a Bachelor's degree in Spanish Education from Purdue University, a Master's degree in Spanish from the University of New Mexico, and a second M.A. in Ibero-Romance Philology and Linguistics from UT Austin. She also holds an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership from Walden University.
