About me
Jennifer D. Benavides is a seasoned educator with 23 years of experience. She went to school at UTSA and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. She earned a Master of Bilingual Education from SMU and continued to pursue a Master of Education in Educational Administration from UNT. She is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership at The University of Pennsylvania. Jennifer started as a teacher at Dallas ISD and then taught ESL in Garland ISD. She worked in GISD as an instructional coach, served as an Assistant Principal at middle and high schools for five years and served as a Principal at Hudson Middle School for two years in her 14-year tenure. In 2017, she moved to San Antonio and became the Principal at Fox Tech High School for Health & Law Professions and served for seven years in that role. She is the founding principal of the In-District Charter at Fox Tech and founded the Alamo Collegiate Network, an 1882 Partnership with Alamo Colleges District. She was instrumental in creating the P-TECH program, called H-TECH at Fox Tech, which provides scholars with an Associate of Science Degree through San Antonio College. She recently led the new design of the Associate of Applied Science Pathway in Nursing for the Fox Tech H-TECH through SAC, the first of its kind in the region, and led the design of the law pathway at FTHS that provides 42 credit hours applicable in political science at 7 regional universities. Mrs. Benavides is considered a leader in the region and across the state for her groundbreaking work engaging industry partners in the P-TECH process and building coherent sequences for dual credit. Her career as a principal and experience as a leader in education is what makes her a great asset to our organization.
